That's a lot of sporting activity.
Meetings with tenant clubs and user groups during the first round of engagement identified plenty of room for improvement when it comes to the current sporting facilities - particularly the quality of the open sports field, the need for competition-standard lighting, access to toilets especially at the western end of the Reserve, increased parking, storage and seating and upgrades to existing pavilions and more.
The draft master plan recognises the need to do better and proposes a range of individual projects to improve sporting facilities - including a proposed six-court indoor sports facility at the northern end of the Reserve.
The preferred location for the indoor sports facility minimises the impact on open space and the dog park, maximising space currently occupied by parking and ensuring protection of some of the Reserve’s most mature trees.
Along with the provision of changing rooms and public toilets, there is also opportunity to potentially integrate the Yarraville-Footscray Bowling Club clubroom, if they would like, meeting their need for upgraded facilities, particularly a new clubroom.
Explore the interactive map below for further details and provide your feedback in the virtual 'post-it note' board below before midnight, Sunday 18 December.
What do you think of the proposed changes and enhancements to sporting facilities?

Can Council and Westgate Basketball stop trying to scare my wife? If it doesn't go on McIvor there will be other options!

I do NOT like what is being proposed for the bowls club. It is not an enhancement. It is destruction of our club!!

Wouldn’t a stadium more assessable to underserved communities be better suited to address their needs?Public Transport to McIvor is a joke!

The Bradmill development has almost no green space in the plans yet hundreds of new dwellings. Green space is SO precious

Please listen to community - it is totally inappropriate to build an indoor facility on green space. We are in a climate emergency.

Not for me. There needs to be a fundamental shift in the way open space is viewed by our council - spaces for all, not just sports pitches.

This is a sports masterplan, not a reserve masterplan. #savemcivor

This is not a plan that reflects the value the community places on the reserve. A new draft with a greener focus is needed.

The enhancements all seem like bribes/extortion to me.Is that why you worked with them for years on this before letting the community know?

Southern site wasn't discounted because it took some sports field space. Is still a better site. 6 soccer pitches aren't needed.

For me this is the wrong site for a large sradium development. At 20m high it will have a huge impact of the local area.
