Council endorses Pennell Reserve Master Plan
Following dialogue with users and residents, Council endorsed a Master Plan at its meeting on 12 December 2023 that will see Pennell Reserve upgraded to cater for the future needs of a growing community.
Key improvements identified in the Master Plan include:
- a new sports pavilion
- multi-purpose courts with shelter, lighting, and fencing
- increased tree canopy
- new cricket nets
- a new playground
- expanded pathway connections
- increased space for bicycle and car parking.
Archery will relocate elsewhere by the end of 2024 to facilitate the removal of fencing from the Eastern side of the Reserve, enabling this open space to be activated for the community to use.
The Braybrook and Maribyrnong Community Youth and Table Tennis Club have been relocated to RecWest Braybrook and Council will continue working with other groups who use Pennell Hall to identify opportunities to relocate within the new pavilion space or nearby facilities.
You can view the endorsed Master Plan below or on Council's website.

2021 engagement snapshot
We shared an initial concept design with the community early in 2012 to help inform our master planning for Pennell Reserve.
Feedback was received from more than 400 respondents who:
- indicated strong support for improved pathways, oval lighting, and increased open space and trees, and
- voiced some concerns about the new netball and tennis courts and the allocation of space for the outdoor archery club.
