The Votes Are In

As part of the Visioning Seddon conversation in August 2022, we also asked the community's preference on a location for a new public toilet - from six potential options.

Harris Reserve/Thomson Street received the most votes (190) and, in line with the community's wishes, we'll be erecting a new facility there. Of note, a public toilet was also one of the most sought after improvements to Harris Reserve identified in a separate engagement in March 2021.

The new toilet will be placed on Thomson Street near the intersection with Gamon Street. We’ll widen the footpath first to minimise any impact on green space. This will be two car lengths with existing parking conditions adjoining the Reserve remaining unchanged and all existing trees at the Reserve will be retained.

The new facility, which will be clad with timber slats, will include a children’s toilet pan, standard fittings, after hours auto-locking doors, sensor external lighting, change table facilities, sharps and sanitary disposal units, hand dryer and soap dispenser.

It will be open dawn to dusk. Existing landscaping should screen the facility from near neighbours.

Council will also be installing a new pedestrian crossing at the Thomson/Gamon Street intersection.
